The setting for the game takes place roughly one year after the events of the first game.Like the first game, the first trial is a tutorial one that guides the player, Phoenix Wright, into all of the elements of the Ace Attorney courtroom. This is established by having Phoenix receive amnesia due to a head trauma. The remaining three trials are united by the mysterious disappearance of prosecutor Miles Edgeworth.
Justice For All plays similarly to the first Ace Attorney game as a visual novel/adventure game. While the game has been adapted from the GBA version to use the DS touch screen, none of the special investigation techniques introduced in the “Rise from the Ashes” case from the first game reappear.
A small but significant change is that a player can now present the profiles of people involved with the case, in addition to the evidence in the Court Record. The player can present them either during the court room or investigative phases.
Justice for All features a new gameplay concept called Psyche-Lock. Phoenix Wright has to unlock several locks that have been placed over a witness’ heart in order to reveal the truth.

Was…not that good. And it pains me to say that.
The murders and plot were better, but the new characters were most of them obnoxious, irritating and very prone to shove “like” between each word. The second case, specifically, left me tired of dealing with that said character. I just wanted to be done with her already.
Mind you I’ve played the 4 games twice each with a lot of time in between both plays, this one was the one that I felt dragged more.
This game did good things: plot was more involving, we discover more about Maya and Mia (and Pearl enters the picture, she’s adorable!), there’s a new system to crack open the witnesses called Lock, which also made the supernatural element more evident in this game on all the cases.
But it tanked on the witnesses. For every good one that I came to like, there were 2 and 3 that got on my nerves. Maybe it was the localisation that exacerbated the problem (and one of the reasons I want to play this series in Japanese and review them again for difficulty level), but in the end I felt the game was less than stellar and not a worthy sequel of Phoenix Wright.
If there’s a game of the series I’d say to skip because of the slow lines and the way they speak, this is the one.
It’s not that it’s a horrible game, but I did play the 4 games one after another and I noticed how this one stood out for being…a bit more vapid than the rest. Again, not in plot or murders, those were better than the first game. There was more evidence and the killer was more intricate to suss out. No, the fault lies completely on the new characters and that makes me feel sad.
AA is a series with a vast cast of characters, genuine, lovable and repetitious sure, but this one did a big dirt on them.
Happy gaming everyone! o((*^▽^*))o
Have you heard about this game before? Have you played it? If so, I’d love to know what you think of it!
