I’ve never told why I returned to have interest in Japanese learning last year. Before December, don’t remember if it was one month before or what, I stumbled upon JPod101 podcasts. I’d been in a kick for podcasts, though I’m fickle and haven’t felt like listening to them, and discovered them in a bout of curiosity.
I’d just been checking to see of there was any pods about Japanese games, but ended discovering those. I really, really liked them and how well they explained the grammar/things. I discovered they had an app and promptly decided to try their free one week trial (or is it a month?) And liked some but not all.
Their absolute beginner and lower intermediate were really well structured, while their beginner stuff felt too long and didn’t have the “repeat after the speaker” parts that I liked. So I found it was a bit of a mixed bag in terms of what they were offering.
The trial finished and that’s when I discovered the Memrise app existed, thanks to that.
I’ll say, though, now I’ve been watching their videos on YouTube, I much prefer them to the audio-only lessons.
They have a really good budget, the most recents ones, look amazing and they’re free. I’m a big presentation oriented person, I love it, and their recent videos really have it in spades.
JapanesePod101 is really solid, the advice is stupendous and it’s given and explained by Japanese people. So it’s not a case of the blind leading the blind!
I can thank JPod101 for sparking my love for the language and wanting to learn it again, and I do think the videos and content are really good （⌒▽⌒）
