Guest Blogger Pink-chan: Top 10 Anime That Made Us Cry The Most

images

Me and the lovely Pink got to talking on her Saddest Anime Scene for her Anime Challenge, and came up with collabing for a top 10 anime list that made us cry. So these will be Pink’s top 5 anime that made her cry, and mine you can find on her blog here (≧∇≦)/

And I pass the baton to Pink:

Rurouni Kenshin: Seisōhen

401

I know I mention this anime all the time, but seriously. It’s freaking sad as hell. Rurouni Kenshin:
Seisōhen is an OVA for the Rurouni Kenshin series (which is great by the way).

If you read the manga, you know that Kenshin and Kaoru get married and have a kid. This OVA takes place after that. Kenshin, feeling unworthy of everyone’s love, leaves his family to become a wanderer again. Kaoru goes to the harbor every day to see if Kenshin has returned. After a while, she starts looking back at her life with Kenshin and all the things that have happened.

This anime basically adds in the arcs of the manga that the original Rurouni Kenshin anime left out. Overall, it was alright, but the ending broke my heart into tiny little pieces.

Naruto Shippuden

I don’t even need to write a paragraph about why this anime made me cry. Instead, I’m just gonna list a few names. See if you can catch my drift.

Itachi. Jiraiya. Asuma. Deidara. Kisame. Shikaku. Inoichi. Neji. Obito. Madara.

Do I need to go on?

This Boy Suffers From Crystalization

This anime was so beautiful, it made me cry. The story revolves around high school boy Ayumu Tamari, who has an illness that makes him start to turn to stone when he’s stressed. Since he couldn’t fit in with his class, after repeating a year, he declared that he wanted to have a “sparkly youth” as well. To do this, he changed his hair and clothes to be more fashionable, and constantly checked for popular topics to stay in the know. In the midst of Ayumu’s life of making a facade, his homeroom and stone-loving geology teacher Kouya Onihara says that Ayumu’s stone transformation is beautiful. Ayumu begins to become attracted to Kouya, who starts to give him advice.

I watched this a while ago, and as far as I can remember, it’s not too sad. I just think that the art style, plot, and writing broke through my shell.

Your Lie In April

67177l

Music accompanies the path of the human metronome, the prodigious pianist Kousei Arima. But after the passing of his mother, Saki Arima, Kousei falls into a downward spiral, rendering him unable to hear the sound of his own piano.

Two years later, Kousei still avoids the piano, leaving behind his admirers and rivals, and lives a colorless life alongside his friends Tsubaki Sawabe and Ryouta Watari. However, everything changes when he meets a beautiful violinist, Kaori Miyazono, who stirs up his world and sets him on a journey to face music again.

Based on the manga series of the same name, Your Lie In April approaches the story of Kousei’s recovery as he discovers that music is more than playing each note perfectly, and a single melody can bring in the fresh spring air of April.

With the awesome music and great plot, I knew this anime was too good to be true. I knew something tragic was just waiting to happen. And when it did happen, I wasn’t ready at all.

Elfen Lied

6883l

Lucy is a special breed of human referred to as “Diclonius,” born with a short pair of horns and invisible telekinetic hands that lands her as a victim of inhumane scientific experimentation by the government. However, once circumstances present her an opportunity to escape, Lucy, corrupted by the confinement and torture, unleashes a torrent of bloodshed as she escapes her captors.

During her breakout, she receives a crippling head injury that leaves her with a split personality: someone with the mentality of a harmless child possessing limited speech capacity. In this state of instability, she stumbles upon two college students, Kouta and his cousin Yuka, who unknowingly take an injured fugitive into their care, unaware of her murderous tendencies. This act of kindness will change their lives, as they soon find themselves dragged into the shadowy world of government secrecy and conspiracy.

This anime was sad, but nowhere near as sad as the manga. Still, I found myself sobbing while (and after) watching this.

If you liked what you just read from Pink, definitely check her blog out! (★^O^★)

      1. Clannad is a bit, the first season is classic harem/romance while the second season is mach 7 train straight to Feels-ville. Ano Hana is sad in the beginning and then hits you hard with feels later. They’re both great!

  1. I’m always told to watch Elfen Lied but I’m also always told it will make me cry! I haven’t watched it yet because I feel like I have to mentally prepare myself. Speaking of sad anime one of mine has to be Clannad After Story. I literally ugly sob cried during about 90% of that show.

      Pink really picked well!
That feels like me after Air TV, and one of the reasons I’m scared of touching another Key anime haha

      1. I am sorry if that came out wrong. I didn’t mean to offend you. Sorry.
I also seen that Rurouni Kenshin OVA you mentioned. Even though it wasn’t my favorite OVA, it did made me feel. I felt bad for both characters.
