Reeling from his crushing defeat at the Grand Prix Finale, Yuuri Katsuki, once Japan’s most promising figure skater, returns to his family home to assess his options for the future. At age 23, Yuuri’s window for success in skating is closing rapidly, and his love of pork cutlets and aptitude for gaining weight are not helping either.
However, Yuuri finds himself in the spotlight when a video of him performing a routine previously executed by five-time world champion, Victor Nikiforov, suddenly goes viral. In fact, Victor himself abruptly appears at Yuuri’s house and offers to be his mentor. As one of his biggest fans, Yuuri eagerly accepts, kicking off his journey to make it back onto the world stage. But the competition is fierce, as the rising star from Russia, Yuri Plisetsky, is relentlessly determined to defeat Yuuri and win back Victor’s tutelage.

I did not expect for this show to be as fabulous and gay as it was, even tho the posters and the PV’s clearly showed it would be gay as sin.
All I can say is, I WANT MORE EPISODES RIGHT THIS INSTANT PLEASE, GIVE THEM TO ME.
Also, want Victor to slash me with his skates, HE’S SO HANDSOME CHRIST.
I also didn’t expect this show to be as funny as it was, plus all the girls and women were super cuties! OFC, Victor stole the show with being so fabulous, and Yuri being so gay.
Victor was Yuri’s first love, he fell for him at first sight and it was why he started ice skating to begin with. Victor was also the reason Yuri got a poodle dog, and why he went to major leagues, so he could meet him.
OFC, Yuri is not the best, tho not the worst, and so didn’t get to the finals, and Victor has no idea who the fuck he is xD
I actually found it really funny how they censored Victor’s penis with the water fountain flowing in front of his dick, it was priceless! Plus the water droplets on his body? This anime is sin incarnate, I swear!
All I know is, come watch this fabulous, gay ice skating anime, you won’t regret it!

I didn’t expect to love this show half as much as I do. It’s already one of my favourites for fall.

I just kind of expected to find other reasons for its burst of popularity.. But I should’ve known.. An anime with a bunch of guys on the cover blows up after just one episode? Silly me.

lol You can’t say it doesn’t have beautiful animation, flawless transitions, and all around gorgeous tho. If it was crummy it wouldn’t have blown up, believe me. Plus the story has legs to grow, we’ll just have to see if it takes advantage of it~

mm.. I can say that from my perspective I didn’t see any of that. The best thing I saw was hair animation and yeah it had really smooth movement(animation) during the times when they were skating but it doesn’t really LOOK that good. In fact, it’s below average to me and it’s use of Sakuga doesn’t give me hope it plans to look any better. There’s so many other anime, especially sports anime that look so much more gorgeous and a less predictable story. Granted, the story isn’t predictable because other anime have used this story over n’ over but it’s been used so much in general but not in the anime medium. So, I don’t think it’s their fault but I can’t help but know where this story is going before it even happens. The opening is also really bad. It sort of stops at a certain point because it starts repeating the same animation but the background keeps changing colors and I feel it is too fast for the theme song. The yaoi fan-service is also a little bothersome. Outside sources bother me too because people are giving it too much praise for 1 episode. There was very few things I could praise and the hype kind of takes that away from me too.

That’s too bad, because the transition of him as he ages/climbs up was gorgeous. As was when they were both skating and it used clever shots to change from one to the other without us noticing/being smooth. But to each their own lol
