This is a hard one to talk about, much less review. I’ve been toying with the idea of talking about GT since I did my AA ones, way back in February but never did it because I’m such a huge fan, and I loved this game so much. It’s hard, okay? I’ve cried with this game, in happiness. Something I’ve never done before in RL much less because of a game!

So I figure, I should really talk about it. Even if I fail or suck, I still want to broadcast my undying love for this game.

Let me walk you through how I stumbled upon this game. I’m a huge Ace Attorney fan, and so when I discovered who the maker was behind it (Shu Takumi), I looked into him and saw Ghost Trick was by him too. I pounced so hard, once I saw the graphics and that it was a puzzle game, and whooped all the way to the game.

So what started as me doing it because I loved the dude for writing such great characters and mysteries for AA, evolved once I started playing GT.

Why is that? Well…to me, this game is even better than AA. There’s few games that reach this one in terms of plot, mysteries, execution, puzzles, satisfaction and characters.

The premise is interesting, but it’s not the important part. This game has so much…heart, there’s no other way for me to choose. Heart, yes, because the characters are funny and comedic but they’re also full of heart. I can’t really say it in another way. Characters make mistakes, that’s why they die, but they also try their best and trying to keep them alive is not only an interesting component of the game, but also makes you attached each time.

Saving someone dozens of times might make you go “fuck this cunt for keeping on dying”, but I never felt like that. I felt my attachment and fondness grow each time I saved anyone. Plus this game has a kickass cute little Pomeranian that is such a great character, I love him! Heck, I love almost all the characters.

It’s because I love the characters so much, got so attached and fond of them, that when the end happened I just burst into tears in both happiness and sadness. I didn’t want the game to end, I wanted it to keep going, but I also felt relief and happy for the characters when I could give them happy endings ಥ⌣ಥ

The puzzles are also satisfying, and I never felt compelled to use a guide, they aren’t hard. It’s just about which order things are supposed to be done in, and the timing. I’ve played this game twice now, and all I want is for a sequel to happen and grace my soul and heart with it.

The graphics and visuals, and atmosphere, are stellar in this game. You can really tell the animation is hand-keyed by how smooth it is, a rarity that doesn’t happen much nowadays!

All I can say is this game has a really good plot, characters, mysteries and gameplay, and if you haven’t played yet, you’ll love it!

Happy gaming everyone and keep on going ヽ(*⌒∇⌒*)ノ

Have you heard about this game before? Have you played it? If so, I’d love to know what you think of it!

  1. What Ghost Trick and Ace Attorney are by the same person?
I love them both. Though I still haven’t finished GT. Need to buy the full game. The irony of me trying to decide if I should spend money on GT or AA game so hard to decide.

    1. Yes, it is!
      Me too, I love both~
You should finish GT for sure!
GT is complete, so it’s a really fulfilling and amazing ride, so if you prefer that to an ongoing series, go for it^^

      1. yeah I’ll probably buy GT first to complete it before concentrating on the rest of AA, I’ve only played Dual Destinies for AA and the timeline and everything was AWESOME.

        1. WHAT, you started with Dual Destinies???? Girl, get Justice for All and Apollo Justice for sure, they’re the best games of the DS era!

  2. Awesome! I also love Shu Takumi for his work on both Ace Attorney and Ghost Trick. Ghost Trick is very underrated, especially in a world where AA is already underrated. It came out very late in the DS’ life, so I’m hoping that it can get a rerelease on Virtual Console at some point. I know it came out on iOS, but I do like that dual-screen action. And yes, the animation is so fun and smooth!

    1. Shu Takumi is definitely one of my faves, I’ve been loving everything he does!
Yeah, it’s really sad that even AA fans don’t know about GT 90% of the time :/
I think it’s also because it didn’t get marketed enough as “from the AA maker” and etc, so AA fans didn’t get their attention brought to it 😦
I do hope they bring it to 3DS, or heck, make a port to Vita or PC or whatever!
The animation is snazzy and so gorgeous aaah

  3. I think at some point it was ported to mobile, with the prologue available for free. I played that, found it intriguing and worth the money, but I sucked hahaha.
I managed to finish the prologue (or the free part) and really wanted to play it, but I never got around to getting it. It put a lasting impression in my mind as “that one puzzle game I probably will never be able to find again that I really want to play”, lol.

This is why Nintendo should bring DS games to the Eshop /grumbles
You could always buy the game, stash it somewhere safe and then play a ROM :’D
