I’ve been thinking hard about the direction for my life, also my blog and other things. You might have smelled something funky and burnt, my brain fried tbh, so let’s air out the old and bring in the new fresh air! οΌοΌΎο½οΌΎοΌ
One of the decisions I’ve been thinking hard about is monetization. I’ve been having health issues lately, physical, coupled with my mental, and even 5β¬ would so help me tbh. Not to make like a “look how depressing my life is, please donate” because I actually don’t really like the idea of monetizing anything because I don’t think I’m good enough. I wanted to use Adsense, but WordPress does not allow itΒ on their free-hosting (.com), so I decided on affiliate programs and links for my blog. I will always warn beforehand if it’s an affiliate link and where it is going to. I’m not going to do anything different from what I’ve done so far, just at the end of each blog post I’ll be linking to where you can buy what the post was about, if you grt interested in it, worry not!
I also decided toΒ start up a YouTube channel, monetize it, and start doing let’s play’s with, and maybe even do some vlogs and Japanese language related, maybe even playing one game in JP and show how I play and search kanji/meanings. Why? Well, I like trying new things out, and I think it’ll be fun and would be great if it made any β¬β¬~
I sure hope this wasn’t depressing to read, gosh, I sure don’t want to spread what I have to others, it isn’t my purpose for this post! π¦ It’s more of an explanation and the reason why you might start seeing youtube videos here in the blog. I have clear goals for my YouTube channel, I’m only going to upload things I finish first, to make sure it gets concluded, and I will only post it here in the blog each time i finish uploading a series/full thing/complete.
I wouldn’t want to spam my blog each time I upload a video, and I want my focus to be on what I’ve been doing. I love you all, and there’s no way that I’m quitting blogging!
I sure hope people don’t think I’m selling out or…I don’t know, trying to take advantage of anyone. I’m not asking for donations, or for pity, I’d just really like it if it works and helps me a little. And it’d be money I’d be putting towards the blog, not for me to grab and go spend a vacation in the bahamas! Tho if I did ever get enough money for that of course I’d do it ππππ
Hah, dream on though. I have my expectations very realistic on this, if I make even 1β¬ out of it I’ll be incredibly happen about it ππ

True, if I was trying to do this for the money, trust me I wouldn’t be blogging or youtubing LMAO, there’s faster ways to make money than this. It’d just be a nice bonus considering all the time I’ve been investing on this, and it’d be nice, but I am not and won’t bank or have expectations of the sort. Just telling and warning people about the monetizations, and affiliates, and I’ll remind each time they’re affiliate links (if there is no warning, then it ain’t), but that’s about it. Won’t be like peddling or saying BUY THIS for sure hah xD
I love building stuff from zero, like seriously, there’s a freedom you can’t find in something already built and with expectations <33

Definitely! It takes a lot of dedication to do this kind of stuff and results don’t just happen overnight plus i just like the fun of it π so glad to see you mentioned that in the intro video you did! plus you’re already going to be playing so it’s not like you’re adding something new to what you do (not that id be against you doing it for the money just that when you add that i feel there’s more expectation? like that it’s gotta be worth it type thing, LOL idk if im making sense!!)

^same, i tend to pressure and expect perfection from me, and it’s why at times like that i smite myself and start stuff from zero to show myself that it is impossible πΉ

Good luck with your goals! It’s not selling out at all. You put a lot of work into your blog so you are more than entitled to try and make some cash from it.

I almost clicked the monetize button the other day, but stopped at the last second. Given the little traffic I get I presume I wouldn’t make much cash, so why bug readers with ads? My job situation isn’t safe though, so if I find myself unemployed I may try out Adsense to make some extra scratch,

Ooh, you’re running on wordpress.org? Interesting.
Do you really get that little traffic, or do you just think it’s little? Even just 500 views every day for a month will build up at the end of the year. If you don’t want ads you can just go with affiliate links, but those actually involve someone clicking and buying through it so it’s way less garanteed than ads. In the end, you have to decide what’s best for you and your blog. I’m gonna do stuff like i always did, I’m just adding stuff at the bottom of each post, and if i could have ads, i would put some but not a bunch. Maybe you could try wordads instead maybe? From what I understood they’re less annoying since it’s just text.

My progress will be slow, I only have scheduled 5 videos yet, need to edit more, hopefully this weekend. Also getting an audio adapter so i can use my headset + cooling pad for the laptop. I noticed during recordings it was rather noisy, and i don’t want it to die since I’m borrowing it from my parents πΉπΉ
